Comments about Barefoot International Gunnel Mount Boom:

Two of the supplied hex bolts and nylon locknuts were defective and stripped upon installation. Otherwise a great product.

      • Q:

What is the Diameter and length of the post on the mounting bracket that the boom slides on to ? Also the distance from the bracket to the hole for the attachment pin? I am talking about the bracket mounted to the gunnel behind the driver.

        Thanks, David

      • Q:

Is it any different then barefooting off of a boom attached to a pylon? And do you get sprayed by the boat more because the boom is farther back on the boat?

          A:

It is different because it is meant to help you learn barefooting without having to spend all the energy being drug through the water and spinning to get to where you can stand. With the booms the take a lot of the difficulty out of trying to learn barefoot skiing. The spray is minimal from the boat but you can definitely send spray onto yourself and the driver if you do not do your feet right while on the boom. Hopefully the driver doesn't mind to much if that happens to you.

      • Q:

Can you raise or lower the bar without adding another bracket?

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

It is meant to rest on the side/gunnel of the boat so there is no need to raise or lower the boom. When you are done using it there is a quick release that pops the whole boom out of the side mounted bracket so that it can be completely removed for storage. It does not matter how tall you are the adjustments to the boom are made inside the boat so there is no need to raise or lower the boom. Just let it rest on the side.

Do you have any detail on the brackets used to attach this?
I need to understand how I can attach this to my center console.

          A:

It uses a "U" bracket that mounts on top of the gunnel and a 4-bolt plate that mounts to the side of the opposite gunnel. Not sure if it could be adapted for a center console, as the gunnel saver pad is fixed on the boom.

      • Q:

How long is the boom from end to end? Is this substantially longer than a standard straight boom that mounts to a pylon so as to compensate for the increased distance to the opposite gunwale?
