Love the anchor buddy. We anchor the front of the boat in the lake cove to a fixed anchor and then use the anchor buddy line to a stake (PVC pipe with eye bolt) hammered into the shoreline. Works great. Just be careful not to let go too quickly if it has tension since it is stretchable. That metal shackle on the end could put a nice dent in someone! Love the product. Use a 4ft. snubber on the front of the boat. They work great together.

Anchor Buddy
the "buddy" really works, however it can get wrapped around your prop if you are not careful.

This is a replacement, my last one lasted about 3 summers before losing its elasticity. We have rocky beach in salt water so this does a great job of keeping prop off rocks and letting me avoid moving the boat all the time as the tide comes in and out.

Q:
should I use an anchor chain between the Anchor Buddy and my anchor or connect the two directly together?Asked on 10/11/2010 by Lance from Lake Nacimento,CA7 answers
A:
Depends on how deep you are using it, I always directly attached the anchor buddy to the anchor chainAnswered on 6/7/2012 by Swen from Port O'Conner, TXVERIFIED BUYER

I connected both of mine directly to the anchors.Answered on 6/21/2012 by Kate from Tygart Lake, WVA:
Yes I have a 21 foot day cruiser, and I use four foot of 5/16" chain with a swivel between Buddy and chain.Answered on 8/17/2011 by thelakenik from Tempe Az.VERIFIED BUYER
A:
Depends on the bottom structure. If it is sandy or soft you shouldn't need a chain. If you are in different locations each time I would use a chain between anchor and rope.Answered on 6/10/2011 by Ramjet from South CarolinaVERIFIED BUYER
A:
Yes, an anchor chain always helps to keep the anchorline angle lower so it digs in deeper. I recommend the chain.Answered on 7/26/2011 by Mayo from McHenry ILVERIFIED BUYER
A:
I would recommend using an anchor chain between the Anchor Buddy and your anchor to protect the Anchor Buddy from damage due to rocks on the lake bottom. Due to the design, any kind of cut or fraying may cause the Anchor Buddy to fail when stretched. It also seems to make my anchor hold slightly better when I use an anchor chain with the Anchor Buddy.Answered on 8/22/2011 by Weekend Boater from Southern OregonVERIFIED BUYER
A:
I would say it depends on the type of anchor you are using. If you are using a box anchor you do not need a chain. (Box anchors are the best, your boat will not move and sets easier then any other anchor) Any other anchor I can't say for sure.Answered on 9/30/2011 by Dan from California
Q:
How do I set it up ? I have an 24 ft boat. We usually go to lakes & anchor bow side towards the anchor & secure the stern to a line to the shore.
ThanksAsked on 8/2/2010 by Anonymous1 answer
A:
This is what I do when I am at the lake, I attached the anchor buddy and the anchor line together to the anchor. I zip tied them together with enough slack in the anchor line for the anchor buddy to work. You need at least 100' of anchor line, when I zip tie them to together I stretch the anchor buddy about 25' to 30' first. This way i have enough line to run to shore to my stake. I also put a small bouy on the anchor buddy so the hook that goes to your boat does no sink, this way I can leave it there go boating and come back to it and tie off again.Answered on 7/12/2011 by fulky from oil city, pa
Q:
Is the only difference between the anchor buddy and the anchor buddy mini the length or are they rated for different loads?Asked on 7/6/2010 by Anonymous1 answer
A:
They are rated by what you are going to use it on, boat or PWC.Answered on 7/12/2011 by Fulky from Oil City, PA
Q:
I'm anchoring in a windy area a 22'pontoon boat. I have an existing anchor that is set out away from the dock so the boat and be anchored and swing with the wind and still miss the dock . Will the Buddy Anchor Line keep enough tension on the line as to stop the boat from hitting the dock?Asked on 5/5/2009 by Anonymous6 answers
A:
Depends on how long the anchor rope, and how far you are from the dock.Answered on 7/1/2010 by Ozarkdiver from Conway, ARVERIFIED BUYER
A:
In low to medium wind it works well with my 18 foot boat, but in the high wind you might have an issue.Answered on 8/5/2009 by Dave from Carson, Nev.VERIFIED BUYER
A:
the line will give with the wind, im not promising to miss your dock, but when the wind stops, itll pull you back straight above the anchor. Its like a bungee cord itll strech with the shock, then recoil to its original lengthAnswered on 9/10/2009 by Catfish from Western NC MountainsVERIFIED BUYER
A:
The Anchor Buddy may be a better alternative as it is limited to 50 feet when fully extended but will retract if less tension is placed on it. If your anchor point to the dock is less than the boat length plus 50 feet then the boat can't hit the dock when swinging.Answered on 6/16/2010 by Chris the Cruiser from Chesapeake, VAVERIFIED BUYER
A:
It should. I set the boat away from shore using the Anchor Buddy Anchor Line then use a line to pull the boat back to shore stretching the line, it works great in that application.Answered on 7/5/2010 by EDH from Lake Nacimiento, CAVERIFIED BUYER
A:
It depends on how far you existing ancor line is from the dock. The anchor buddy will always try stretch back to its smallest form. The line stretches from 14ft~50ft.If your boat is further thand 30ft, i would say it should be fine.Answered on 7/15/2010 by MTI RACER from Fort Lauderdale, Fl
