Anchor Buddy takes the shock out of your anchor line and makes it much easier to anchor offshore. Simply drop anchor about 30' out and proceed to shore; Anchor Buddy stretches, while your anchor stays set. As you pay out your bow line, Anchor Buddy retracts, anchoring your boat safely offshore. Perfect for shore anchoring at the lake

Love the anchor buddy. We anchor the front of the boat in the lake cove to a fixed anchor and then use the anchor buddy line to a stake (PVC pipe with eye bolt)...Read complete review

Love the anchor buddy. We anchor the front of the boat in the lake cove to a fixed anchor and then use the anchor buddy line to a stake (PVC pipe with eye bolt) hammered into the shoreline. Works great. Just be careful not to let go too quickly if it has tension since it is stretchable. That metal shackle on the end could put a nice dent in someone! Love the product. Use a 4ft. snubber on the front of the boat. They work great together.

        This is a replacement, my last one lasted about 3 summers before losing its elasticity. We have rocky beach in salt water so this does a great job of keeping prop off rocks and letting me avoid moving the boat all the time as the tide comes in and out.

                                Depends on the bottom structure. If it is sandy or soft you shouldn't need a chain. If you are in different locations each time I would use a chain between anchor and rope.

                                I would recommend using an anchor chain between the Anchor Buddy and your anchor to protect the Anchor Buddy from damage due to rocks on the lake bottom. Due to the design, any kind of cut or fraying may cause the Anchor Buddy to fail when stretched. It also seems to make my anchor hold slightly better when I use an anchor chain with the Anchor Buddy.

                                I would say it depends on the type of anchor you are using. If you are using a box anchor you do not need a chain. (Box anchors are the best, your boat will not move and sets easier then any other anchor) Any other anchor I can't say for sure.

                                This is what I do when I am at the lake, I attached the anchor buddy and the anchor line together to the anchor. I zip tied them together with enough slack in the anchor line for the anchor buddy to work. You need at least 100' of anchor line, when I zip tie them to together I stretch the anchor buddy about 25' to 30' first. This way i have enough line to run to shore to my stake. I also put a small bouy on the anchor buddy so the hook that goes to your boat does no sink, this way I can leave it there go boating and come back to it and tie off again.

                                The Anchor Buddy may be a better alternative as it is limited to 50 feet when fully extended but will retract if less tension is placed on it. If your anchor point to the dock is less than the boat length plus 50 feet then the boat can't hit the dock when swinging.
