Comments about American Tactical Imports GSG-522 SD Rimfire Rifle:

i purchased this gun when the weekend the firearms superstore opened in Monroe N.C. i had been wanting an MP5 clone just to plink around whith at the range. i have had no complaints about shootablity of this gun, it has been great! ordered some extra mags offline but now i have to be careful not to shoot up all my ammo in one trip! (.22LR is really hard to find)..overall, i love this gun even if it does take a little time to breakdown and clean...

Comments about American Tactical Imports GSG-522 SD Rimfire Rifle:

I owned one of these for a couple years and I really enjoyed it. I didn't trick it out too "tactical" but I did add a lower-end scope and found it was still quite accurate. You pretty much buy it for the looks but also get a good reliable rimfire rifle. I had no issues with any brand of ammo I used. I used it as a low cost target range weapon.

Comments about American Tactical Imports GSG-522 SD Rimfire Rifle:

Bought one of these from Gander, mine happens to be the RD SD version with folding stock. Bought it because it looked cool. It does look cool. So if you want to look at it, go ahead and get one. If you want to actually shot it, that's a different story.
Gun would not fire out of the box. I'm not saying won't fire some times. I'm saying would not fire period. brand new out of box. Tried 4 different types of ammo. Same ammo is eaten just fine by another brand rifle. Light strikes by firing pin. Return to Gander immediately and have to pay for shipping to manufacturer. Over 6 weeks later, it's back from ATI. They (ATI) say its good to go. Does fire now, most of the time. Still suffers from light strikes. About every 50th round will not go. Indention on case is there just not deep enough or with enough energy to fire every round. Gun is not reliable.
Cleaning- As other's have said. To break down and clean is a real pain. Design is way over complicated. That's not the big deal, a gun that doesn't fire is not a gun. but instead a fancy club. Buy something else.

              Service and delivery comments:

A broke gun out of the box this was a new gun too, not a used one. One would expect the retailer to take some level of ownership of selling poorly manufactured rifles. Nope, Gander representatives inform me, that they just sell it. The warranty is with the manufacturer. But as a favor I only have to pay $30 for shipping a brand new gun back to manufacturer for repair. Repair sheet from ATI states, gun was poorly packaged and arrived to them with charge handle broken off. So now ATI claims, only reason gun won't operate is because of Gander's shipping and packaging methods. Keep in mind Gander packaged and shipped it, and Charged me $30 for it. Now a dispute about who's responsible for that... Based on this, I will stay away from Gander for Purchases in the future. Both ATI and Gander are on the list of no go for me. I also had to follow-up with Gander when the gun was out for repair. After 4 weeks, I go to check on status. No one could tell me where the weapon was or an ETA for return. All they could say was it wasn't in the store. By the way, according to the shipping documents, left on the box. The gun sat in the local store for a week before anyone called me to say it was back and come pick it up. No method of tracking a weapon sent for repair? Seriously?
