Product Description
bd_powder American Pioneer Powder is a loose, granular powder designed and created to be a sulfurless black powder replacement. American Pioneer Powder comes in 2 traditional granulations for all manner of cartridge and muzzleloading needs. Whether you are shooting patched round ball, a modern sabot load or a conical projectile, muzzleloading has never been easier! Used on a volume for volume basis for your traditional black powder loads, it will give you the same performance, velocity and accuracy without the messy clean-up and difficult follow-up reloading from black powder fouling. Cartridge loading will also give the same results. Basic loading instructions are to fill the case to the point where the seated bullet will very slightly compress the powder about 1/16" when it is seated and seat the bullet with a good crimp. No matter what type of black powder shooting you do, you will find you won't have the continual build-up of fouling that makes reloading difficult and can cause guns to bind up. And since clean-up can be done with a damp patch after a day of shooting, it will leave more time for shooting and fun!

Comments about B&D Powder American Pioneer FFg Powder:

I tried this in a .54 cal Hawken, a .50 cal flintlock, and a 1863 Zouave musket and it performed great. Absolutely no ignition problems. This is much easier to obtain than blackpowder also.

Have never had any problems with APP. It is an excellent black powder substitute for Cowboy Action Shooting and historical re-enactments. APP has all of the smoke and smell of actual black powder but none of the mess.

Comments about B&D Powder American Pioneer FFg Powder:

I use American Pioneer Powder in my flintlock rifles with a 20-grain detonator charge of straight black powder. That goes in first, then (i.e.) 60 grains of American Pioneer, using a safe "duplex charge" for flintlocks since it does not ignite well by itself in flintlock firearms. I never exceed the manufacturer's set powder charge, and I always use powder measures. I like this method because of the easy post-range clean-up after the range session, and still be able to use it in the type of guns that I love to shoot-flintlock muzzleloading rifles.

Comments about B&D Powder American Pioneer FFg Powder:

I only like to use the FFFG. It works great in cap & ball revolvers and in my inline hunting rifle during the winter deer season. It likes heavy compression. Mark the ramrod for consistent compression. Sometimes it needs swabbing in revolver barrels after 24 shots or so for better accuracy. Works well for winter hunting. I always keep the lid tight for storage and never had any go bad. Gander Mt. carries the FFFG, make sure to ask for it.
