Features 5 ball bearings plus 1 roller bearing, Duragear Brass Gears, a quality MagTrax brake system, and a power disk drag system. 6.4:1 gear ratio allows for a variety of techniques and baits to be fished, making it an ideal all-purpose baitcaster. Power Disk drag system gives smooth drag performance. Recessed reel seat along with compact bent handle and star provide a more ergonomic design. Flipping switch included.

I bought 4 of these reels (the older model)we have used them for nearly 2 years with no problems other than early spring steelhead fishing the reels ice up and stop working. You will have that problem with any reel but most make it a bit longer than these ones do. Just bought 2 of the newer model and they are smaller lighter and seem a little smoother. I have already caught some nice fish with them and they have held up nice. As far as the iceing up they are about the same as the older models I have. They handle big fish well and the drag performs flawlessly. They are made in China but are built very tough. I would also like to add that after you buy one open it up and clean out the cheap grease that is in them and replace it with a good quality reel oil. The grease that was in my older models clumped up after just a few trips and they were not working properly, cleaned them up and put on some good oil and all was good again. Not the best or the smoothest reels out there but for what you pay for them you can't go wrong. I have bought other reels in this price range before and those ones are long gone, pieces of junk that didn't make it through one season. The silver max and the black max are both great reels and will preform nicely for you and they sale repacement parts for them unlike a lot of the other cheaper reels out there.

    this is my first bait caster and it is perfect for my first baicaster. works well on big fish (5 pound largemouth) and has really smooth reeling and casting!! impressed
