Product Description
mossberg The Mossberg SA-20 All-Purpose Field Shotgun is perfect for busting clays on the range, chasing small game, or hunting doves, since it is perfectly balanced, fast-handling, and lightweight. The gas system on this reliable wingshooter vents excess gases to aid in recoil reduction and help eliminate stress on the operating components. The SA-20 Bantam has a shorter 13" length-of-pull for youth and other small shooters.

Comments about Mossberg International SA-20™ All-Purpose Field Youth Shotgun:

Purchased this shotgun for my 10yr old son. The gun is a little long for him, but will probably fit him better next year. We've taken it out busting clays on 2 occasions and pheasant hunting one weekend already. The gun isn't too heavy for him to carry around in the field, but he does get tired after a few hours. My son has never shot a shotgun before, but handles the recoil well and even hits the clays pretty good. I like the look and feel of the gun, it appears to be built well and has no flaws in the finish. My only complaint is that it will not cycle the 7/8oz loads and the action will not lock open (even after manually locking the action open, a quick jar to the side of the gun will cause it to close). I'm hoping that after the gun breaks in a little that the lighter loads will cycle (I've read of others that are able to). I'll probably have to send the gun back to Mossberg to check why the action will not lock open.

A comment about Gander Mountain - I researched shotguns for quite a while on the internet and at local gun shows and had decided to purchase it for my son for Christmas. But, a few weeks ago, my son was invited on a special youth pheasant hunt so I began looking for this shotgun to purchase immediately. I went into Gander Mtn and was told that this gun was out of stock and they could not even find it at their distributors. I began searching all around the internet and was told by everyone that this gun was on backorder and it would take several weeks for it to get in. Frustrated, I was calling all over the country looking for the gun. I happened to look at Gander Mtn's website, it said that they had it in stock. I called the 800 number and discovered that they did have it in stock and could ship it to my local store within a few days for pickup (no FFL transfer). I was really happy to have found the gun and that I would have it in time to surprise my son with at the pheasant hunt, but i was extremely frustrated for the hours of time spent and dozens of long distance phone calls made in search for this gun when my local store could have gotten it for me in the very beginning of my search. My local store didn't check their own website for inventory, they just checked store inventory. So, for anyone that is told by a local store that an item is not in stock, please check the Gander Mtn website and see if it is available and can be shipped to your store.
