      Comments about Ruger® Charger Handgun:

Anyone who wants to smallgame handgun hunt or get into target shooting should buy one of these. Its a tested action that never has issues and is as accurate as a rifle. Plus since it is based on the 10/22 there are hundreds of modifications you can make for it. I use my regularly to shoot small game from squirrels and muskrats to plinking at 100 yards. I just have a $45 pistol scope on mine and have never had any problems. This is my favorite gun for hunting muskrats because of the fact you are shooting a moving ping-pong ball in the water the accuracy is astounding.

          Comments about Ruger® Charger Handgun:

I already enjoyed the 10/22 long platform and had been considering purchasing the Charger for some time. Last week my local Gander matched the online price of [$] and that sold me. I bought the Charger and a SightMark Sure Shot Reflex sight. I've put a 1000 rounds thru it this weekend (CCI and Winchester M-15) and have been a having a lot of fun with the gun. It's not as accurate as a rifle, but is more so than a pistol. I've got is pretty well dialed in for 50 yards now and have tried a few 100 yard shots that went well. It's fun to use on the bench and standing is quite challenging. It's a great piece of artwork and sits nicely on display due to the very cool bipod. Magazines interchaange with my 10/22 rifles and that is great! I'm really enjoying the Charger and am glad that Ruger created it.

              Comments about Ruger® Charger Handgun:

Just darn fun to shoot. OK, my wi*e calls this an ugly gun. Maybe so, but it finds it's way to the range more than most of the others I have. This is a 10/22 as a pistol. 1/2 to 3/4" groups at 25 yards with bulk ammo, better with the good stuff. Shoots like a 10/22, cleans like one. there is clearance for a 25 round magazine while using the bi-pod. My grand kids will shoot this over most others in the bag. My wi*e may be correct, but that HER opinion, I like it ;)

It weights just over 4 lbs with the bipod thats included, so weight then depends on how heavy of a scope you put on it but it is very light and feels good in the hand. I think this would be perfect for your purposes and can make for a lot of fun even if its just plinking cans at your campsite.

This only comes in 22lr but chipmunk makes a single shot handgun with the same dimensions and pistol stock that you can get in 22 magnum, gander mountain sells them.

I am not from NY, but this gun is a pistol by design, designation and definion handed down from the BAT boys. Make a call to be sure, but yes. I'd say your will need one to own this.

10 inch barrel is considered a handgun in New York. So yes you will need a pistol permit to purchase or own this gun.
