    I purchased these items as a present for someone with a new dock. The pictures on the Internet and in the catalog look very good. If the actual product looked half as good as the pictures, I might actually be able to give them as a gift.

    The first thing I noticed was the size. To be fair, the listing does say that it is 4"x4.25". What I was not prepared to see what how small the solar panel actually was (2"x2"). A leaf or just a little bit of shadow would render these useless.

    My next observation was the build quality. At first, I just thought it was the one unit that appeared to be a return item. I am making this assumption because it looks like it has brown paint or wood finish on the housing, despite the fact that there is nothing close to that color on the actual unit. On two of the units, there is a thick bead of glue surrounding and on top of the solar panel. Maybe this is just to help with weather-proofing, but if so then I am concerned that the other two are not weather proof.

    This product reminds me of those old push button lights you see on infomercials; stick them anywhere, etc... The only difference is these cost considerably more.

      Have 4 packs of 4 - providing edge and accent lighting on my ramp and dock. I wouldn't want them to be any brighter or stronger for this purpose. As on other reviewer noted, be careful when using a power tool to drive screws into dock - as you can crack them by over tightening. (I dropped my rating by one star for this) I cracked two of mine during installation and one has failed after a year of service. I assume the other will have a shorter life, too. After I bought mine, the marina added some to one of their walkways and they lasted about a month before someone stole them. I use a non-standard screw drive to make it harder for someone to take mine. I am buying my 5th set now to use in another area

                I installed these on a sunny day, three rainy days later, they still glowed like they were powered by a sunny day. Gives the perfect amount of light to let you know where you're going without being too bright.
