Product Description
remington The Model 597 is easily the most advanced autoloading rimfire rifle ever built, and the most technologically advanced breakthrough in autoloading rimfire rifle technology in 35 years. The difference starts with Remington's proprietary bolt-guidance system, which features a unique set of twin tool-steel guide rails for better stability, feeding reliability and greater out-of-the-box accuracy. The bolt, hammer and sear of the Model 597 all feature an exclusive nickel-Teflon plating for smooth, dependable operation and an ultra-crisp trigger pull. To assure reliable, long-term accuracy, the 597 incorporates a unique positive-locking, permanently rigid barrel attachment clamp. Receivers are grooved for standard rimfire mounts and tapped/drilled for Weaver-style bases. Completing the breakthrough design are an innovative last-shot "hold open" magazine feature and Remington's patented, easy-to-use staggered-stack magazine. The Model 597 Heavy Barrel has a 16" heavy-contour barrel and a rugged synthetic stock with an OD-green finish.

Comments about Remington Model 597 HB Rimfire Rifle:

The trigger weigh is ideal for hunting and chrisp.I sanded the stock with a sponge block removing part line and ruffed it up over all, opend barrel chanel stiffend forend with epoxysawdust paste. This reduced groups by 1/2. Both factory magazines function well. It takes standered volisity round to cycle well.Best accuracy with CCI. Stock scope has the worst parallax error you will ever encounter trash it ASAP. Nice small game rifle.

Comments about Remington Model 597 HB Rimfire Rifle:

I recently purchased a 597 in .22 caliber because I love the .22 caliber, and it is the most useful for small game. To my surprise, the gun functioned, and operated very poorly. I have had the firearm for 2 months now, and it has yet to impress me once.
The scope crosshairs are rotated about 5 degrees off center, and it will not zoom clearly at all. When zooming, the scope begins to blur and become unclear. Essentially the scope is defective. Along with the scope, the gun itself does not function properly, sadly. The safety does not lock unless I manually pull the trigger forward and then push the safety in. Obviously the safety is among the most important functions of the weapon and I am extremely disappointed in Remington for the quality of this firearm and the lack of importance placed on the safety features. But the problems do not stop there. When sighting in the gun with a new scope (that I had to purchase for 80$ due to the malfunctioning of the factory scope) I decided to use hollow point bullets because they are more accurate than the standard round tip ones. Recently I had read that 597's have problems with hollow points and tend to jam very quickly, but knowing of Remington's quality, I figured it was just that particular gun. To my surprise again, the gun's magazine jammed. It would not allow the bullets to feed straight into the chamber, and would jam inside of the magazine. Not one shot out of every few, every single shot.
As I said, I LOVE Remington Firearms, however, this gun has been a major disappointment.
