Comments about Danner Mens Pronghorn GTX 1200g 8" Hunting Boot:

I purchased these boots 2 years ago at Gander Mountain and I must say they are worth every penny. I typically deer hunt in Wisconsin late season bow and gun into December/January. My feet typically get cold, which is why I went with the 1200 grams thinsulate. I bought them about a half size larger because I usually wear a thin sock and then wool socks over. My feet have stayed warm even down to 10 degrees for a few hours. These boots are the most comfortable pair that I have tried on and worn compared to many other boots with similar or more thinsulate insulation.

Comments about Danner Mens Pronghorn GTX 1200g 8" Hunting Boot:

i bought these boots at full price in hopes that they will serve me well. i had a pair of rocky bear claws that i only wore hunting for 2 deer seasons and just this last spring hunting turkey. i started to notice that my feet were getting wet while i was turkey hunting. i got to looking and noticed that the soles on my rockys were coming apart. this was very frustrating so i knew what i had to do. i went and bought these danner pronghorns at full price. i am praying these boots hold up better for the price. i will be using them starting this deer season so right now they are setting in my room waiting. they look to be made very well. the soles look good and strong. they felt good when i tried them on so im sure they will be comfortable. i hope someone else buys these boots so i can see what they think of them. happy hunting!

Comments about Danner Mens Pronghorn GTX 1200g 8" Hunting Boot:

Now that I've had a chance to wear these out in the cold snowy weather I can say that these boots definately are warm enough, but I haven't used them yet just standing still for hours on a hunt. I suspect they will do just fine in this situation though from what I can tell. I also have a lighter pair of Danners with the same sole and I am very impressed with the grip they get walking up and down steep hill terrain with loose dirt and leaves. Seems the dual density rubber grips very well on all types of ground. The only drawback to these boots is that they can be a little difficult to lace up. The laces are way too long and I had to wrap them around the top one time or the laces would have been dragging close to the ground. Thats not the main problem with the lacing though, it's being able to hook the laces to the lug's on the boot. I have a bit of a back problem, and when wearing heavy clothes it can be a bit of a hassle lacing these boots up. Other than that, the insole is the only gripe I have. Cheap thin insoles that I put right in the trash and replaced them with good ones. Much better. Overall, this is a very good boot that will keep your feet warm out in the cold. If they don't feel good on your feet when you first get them, or the fit isn't just right, I would suggest trying a different boot. I have come to find that cold weather boots need to fit you perfectly to keep your feet warm. Room to wiggle your toes is essential, and you don't want to have to tighten the laces very tight for them to feel right on your foot. That will just cut off blood circulation to your feet and you can guess what that means. Make sure these boots fit right or they may not perform as they should.

Comments about Danner Mens Pronghorn GTX 1200g 8" Hunting Boot:

This is good boot. My suggestion: make sure you have enough room for toe warmers and heavy socks. Try the boot on with sock liners and a heavy over sock to make sure you can move your toes and there room for toe or foot warmers. I bought a pair size 10-1/2, my shoe is 9-1/2, with liner, heavy socks and toe warmers, there's not much room. Had I purchased size 11 there would have been ample room for warmers and toe movement. I would not have been uncomfortable when the temperature went into the teens. Good hunting.

I don't know if the height varies from size to size, but my 13's are 11 inches from the floor to the tallest part of the boot.
