I looked a lot of places for cargo pants but struck out everywhere (I'm 6' 1", average build, not hard to fit, but no one seemed to carry the 34" length I needed). I found these in Gander Mountain and liked the fit and price. Only disappointment was they only had one pair in my size. When I got home I checked their web site and was pleased to see that they offer free shipping and easy returns to my local store if needed, so I ordered a second pair in a different color.
I have worn these pants on casual nature hikes for birdwatching, wildflower viewing, and photography. They are comfortable and fit very well. As the weather warms up I'm sure I'll appreciate the convertible feature, too. Note: they seem to be longer than specified (34" in my case), which I appreciate as they come all the way to the ground even with heavy soled hiking boots so they provide good ankle protection when walking through brush and tall grasses.
One other observation -- the pockets seem very secure with their Velcro flaps and being extra deep, so I don't have any worries about losing things out of them.

misleading size information
Ordering size had two entries but wouldn't allow me to enter a different waist and inseam size. Now I have to return the pants.

Comments about Gander Mountain® Men's Cotton Convertible Pant:
Great pants for just casual wear in hot, humid weather. They are very lightweight and comfortable especially with the interior mesh lining. I replaced an old pair that I originally bought for an African Safari.
Service and delivery comments:
The delivery was very quick, but twice they sent the wrong size since the label on the clear plastic bag differed from the contents, which were clearly identifiable. I finally got the right size after I requested that customer service personally contact the wharehouse to check the pants actual size.

Comments about Gander Mountain® Men's Cotton Convertible Pant:
I have purchased other convertible pants. These are far superior in quality and workmanship. I play golf 4 times a week. These are heavy enough for the cool mornings, before changing into shorts as it warms. I will continue to purchase your products without any misgivings.

Comments about Gander Mountain® Men's Cotton Convertible Pant:
I love these types of pants, and I have worn a lot of different brands. So far these are my favorite ones. Most of the jobs I do require the ware of long pants. I need pants that are durable, yet flexible. A lot of these jobs are labor intensive, so the long pants are a safety concern. I do like to ware shorts a lot, so the versatility of the pant is great!
Usually, the zip off type pants wear out quickly at the zipper, which is right at the knee. These seem to be made of a thicker more durable material than most. I have had my pair for about 3 months and haven't had to do a thing to them, yet. Usually by this time the zipper shows a little wear and I am having to repair my first hole. I will see how they last as time goes on. In the mean time, I want to buy another pair.
I have found that these pants do tend to run a little long in the inseam, but that doesn't bother me. They are a nice baggy pant leg, which helps if you can't ware regular jeans because of how big your leg is around!
One added bonus about the durable material, was that even though the pant breathes, it keeps out the drafts on cool days.
