Bought this tent yesterday, set it up thinking it would be a great night to camp out with the kids because there was no rain in the forecast. Wrong... it started raining at 5am and by 6am the seams 5" from the floor were leaking. The rain hit the side of the tent rolled down to where the floor was sewn to tent wall. Rained pooled inside, we packed up and headed inside the house. I am glad to have tested this tent in my backyard. It would have been lousy to be up North and have the rain ruin a weekend. Bottomline: if the tent leaks it's no good to me because you can't predict the weather.

Comments about Gander Mountain Grizzly Den 8 Dome Family Tent:
We are on our second Grizzly Den...we have the old blue one as well and it is still in use and doing fine. We grabbed this model when it was on sale as we know that it won't be long before our old one gives out zipper-wise, etc. The old one is 10 yrs old and is used several times every year. We like it because you can zip off the top vents and keep warm when camping in northern MN in late October...or the Colorado high-country at any time of year! I highly recommend this tent...it is just a good all-around tent. We own 5 tents (from a backpacking tent to a large "vacation home" tent that sleeps 12 and this one is our go-to favorite.

Comments about Gander Mountain Grizzly Den 8 Dome Family Tent:
I use this tent where I camp all summer. Once I put it up it stays up with all my gearin it and a air matters and bedding. It has never leaked or blown away. The last one lasted three summers before a tree fell on it last summer in the hurricane. Then only broke two poles and keep for spare parts. Best ever!

Comments about Gander Mountain Grizzly Den 8 Dome Family Tent:
Pros: Set up was easy but the instructions were not easy to follow, just used my common sence. The first night it was up we had high driving winds and over 2" of rain an hour for about 3 hours, then a steady rain for another 2 hours. The tent stood up to all the elements.
Cons: the floor material is made of the same material as the walls, the floor did not leak but everything in the tent had condensation on the bottom of it, backpacks sleeping bags etc. when putting the tent away I noticed that one of the tent poles inner cordage already had the rubberband snapped (first use and already a bad pole) sleeps 4 people gear and a dog comfortably, not 8, no way shape or form.
I returned the tent for a refund. I would not recommend this tent.

Comments about Gander Mountain Grizzly Den 8 Dome Family Tent:
I love that i am 6" tall and that I can stand in this tent. Also that i have 3 children and a wife and we all can fit inside it. I would not take it on long walks. It i deffently to hevey for that. But to a drive up campground like we use it is perfect. I put this tent up my self in about 20 minutes.

Comments about Gander Mountain Grizzly Den 8 Dome Family Tent:
The first time I set this up, it was just me and my two girls...hubby was deployed. I needed a small bit of help figuring it out...but we got it. Once you've set it up it's easy to remember the next time. Held up very well against heavy rain and wind...no leaks. Love the extra windows and extra features. Quite roomy...don't know about 8 people...but we fit 2 adults, two children, a large dog, and lots of stuff in it.

It's the type of tent that will take you from the shores of lake superior (open windows during the day for comfort and zipper the top closed at night so you don't freeze) to the interior (open everything and have good cross ventilation).Answered on 5/27/2010 by Laura from Central Wisconsin
