Product Description
thompsoncenter_arms The Omega Z5, the work horse of the Omega line-up, .50-Caliber Muzzleloader from Thompson/Center features a sealed pivoting breech design for simple operation and hassle-free cleaning. This muzzleloader uses the forward motion of its trigger guard lever to pivot the breech block downward, allowing for easy access to the 209 primer pocket while reducing exposure to rain, snow and sleet. With its 28" barrel, the Omega burns magnum charges with maximum efficiency, producing high velocities for flatter trajectories and increased downrange energy, and the sealed breech plug is specially designed to avoid the problem of crushing Pyrodex pellets which could cause a misfire. Cleaning the Omega couldn't be easier since there is no bolt, barrel or stock to remove; simply pivot the breech block down, unscrew the breech plug and you're done.

  • Accepts magnum charges of up to 150 grains of black powder, a Pyrodex equivalent or three 50-grain, .50-caliber Pyrodex pellets
  • 28" barrel with Quick Load Accurizer muzzle system delivers exceptional muzzle velocity
  • Durable laminated-hardwood stock with high comb and tastefully scalloped cheek piece
  • Patented hammer and trigger mechanism permits the hammer to make contact with the firing pin only when the trigger is pulled fully rearward for rapid shooting
  • Adjustable metal rear sight with fiber optic inserts and metal ramp-style front sight with fiber optics help you achieve a finer shot picture
  • Sealed pivoting breech design allows for easy access to the 209 primer pocket and protects it from undesirable weather conditions
  • Removable breech plug eliminates the need to disassemble the muzzleloader for quick and easy cleaning
  • Sling swivel studs
  • Solid aluminum rugged rod
  • Drilled and tapped for scope mounts

Residents of IL, HI, MA, MI, NJ, NC, and NY are advised to check local laws for restrictions before ordering any black powder firearm.

    Great gun

The only thing that is a negative is that it is hard to get primers in or out with gloves on but goes easier with a primer loader.

Shoots nice. Easy to clean. Stock appears to be cheap and makes a lot of noise in the woods if you hit something, because it is hollow.

    Comments about Thompson/Center Arms Thompson/Center Omega Z5 .50-Caliber:

This Thompson Center Omega 50 cal muzzle loader is a tack driver. It is easy to use and clean with the removable breach plug. Most accurate muzzle loader there is out there. I would not own anything else nor would I recemmond anything else in a muzzle loader. Like I said you can drive tacks with this one. That is also useing the factory open sites that it comes with. No scope for me. Don't need one. Deer or any critter dos not stand a chance with this 50 cal. One shot is all you need. If you are wanting a muzzle loader this is the one to have. No question about it.

      Comments about Thompson/Center Arms Thompson/Center Omega Z5 .50-Caliber:

This is my first long gun muzzle loader. I'd buy it again or recommend in an instant (but not for a lady - see below). With iron sights as delivered, sighting-in was a breeze - 5th shot at 100 yds dead center. 120 grains of 777 and PowerBelt® AeroTip 295-gr Copper Series .50-Caliber Bullets literally kicked me a good one. I recommend extra padding between you and the gun butt when firing. This combo should knock down anything it hits. I ran a patch through after each firing but probably only necessary every 3rd shot. Cleaning was easy except for the threads inside the breach. Can't wait for elk season to start.

The gun all others are judged by. Always a good shooter. BDC scopes are MADE for this gun. T/C has perfected the muzzle loader. Crush Rib Sabots and a XTP or an SST and you are in business. Easy to clean and will last longer than you will, if you take care of it.

I put on the Nikon Omega scope Use the shock wave 250 grain bullets, couldn't ask for a better shooting muzzleloader. The power belts shot all over the place so I'd recommend useing the T/C shock waves or super glides
