With seven NOAA channels, you'll have reception in up to 93% of the U.S.A., and Specific Area Message Encoding (S.A.M.E.) localized reception only sounds alerts for the counties you specify. The NOAA channels can be customized for up to 25 counties for continued access to information in areas of interest. And, with emergency power backup, you can be assured the monitor will always work. 2"h x 5.13"w x 6.25"d. Requires three AA batteries (not included) or DC power adapter (not included). AC wall adapter included.

    Living in a very rural location not near any of the NOAA stations, I am used to moving radios around to various positions in the house to try to get any NOAA reception. Not so with this radio. It receives many of the closest stations clear and static free even without the available remote antenna. Setup is quick and easy, even without the detailed instructions.

    Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    I had one arrive with a broken antenna right out of the box. Gander send a replacement immediately-they were great! The second one has a flimsy antenna that I am nervous to move too much for the fear that it may break. The sound quality is clear and very good.

    Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
