Purchased for my bull mastif, doesn't keep dog from sinking. Luckily he's a good swimmer and we purchased a float for him to lay on instead. Looks good on him tho. Does seem to keep him cooler when its wet, and the handle makes it easier to get him in the boat.

Comments about Overton's Overton's Dog Life Jacket:
I ordered the small for my standard dachshund (15lbs) and it fit well. We took him out for a kayaking trip and he's new to this whole swimming gig, but it kept him afloat. However, the stitching on the handle does look pretty flimsy so I would advise against handling a dog by the handle alone. Also, the color looks yellow in the picture, but is actually more of a neon green, which still works great so your precious dog is easily spotted in the water (especially with those reflective strips.) The overall construction of the lifejacket is uniformly padded and isn't bulky. I have been very satisfied with this lifejacket so far and highly recommend it, especially for smaller dogs.

Comments about Overton's Overton's Dog Life Jacket:
I bought this jacket for an active dog that somehow is not much of a swimmer. I've seen her swim when falling in our pool and don't want to have to worry if she falls out of the boat. This jacket is very easy to put on and it has bright colors and reflective strips so it should be easy to spot if/when she does fall in.

Comments about Overton's Overton's Dog Life Jacket:
This turned out to be a great bit of added security for our Yorkie. It is easy to put on and the dog was not bothered by it at all, so it must be fairly comfortable. Also like the grab handle on the back and the Hi-Visibility.

I am looking to purchase a life jacket for my golden retriever. He is a strong swimmer but swallows too much sea water. Do you have a jacket that would keep his face out above the water?Asked on 7/9/2012 by Sam from Wildwood Crest NJ0 answers

Size small. I just got one for my dog who is also 14lbs and it fits great. The small will be perfect even for longer torsoAnswered on 6/14/2012 by Rave from Palm Desert CAVERIFIED BUYER

Long torso is OK for either size (short torso is the problem..) Go with the girth measurement instead of weight to get the correct size for your dog.Answered on 6/2/2012 by Skippy from Florida

Q:
I have an English Bulldog and she LOVES to swim. She has a medium vest which she just fits in but I think the large will be to long (between front and back legs). She weight is 53 pounds but her girth would fit the large better but I think it will be to long down the body. Can anyone tell me the length from the neck to the mesh closest to the hide legs? Thanks!!Asked on 4/27/2011 by Breezer1 answer

stay with the medium, large will be way to big, a snug fit is good.Answered on 7/13/2011 by Djlinkdog from Binghamton, NY

A:
If your dog is on the lean side, then a medium will work. If more stocky and full in the middle, then I would go for the large. No worries, Overton's will exchange! Our Austrian Shepherd/doberman mix is on the lean side and wears a medium.Answered on 6/11/2011 by Melissa Rogers from Austin, Texas
Q:
how do you size the vest for your dog by poundsAsked on 5/17/2010 by Anonymous2 answers
VERIFIED BUYER
A:
The size to weight ratios given in the Overton's cat. make it easy to purchase the correct size. If your dog is near the max. weight for a particular size; order that size,as the item is big enough for that weight and a little more....assuming the animal is not overweight to any great degree.Answered on 6/2/2010 by Jim from Easthampton, Ma.VERIFIED BUYER

Q:
On the black mesh underbelly part, how large are the mesh holes? Do you worry if he scratches he will get a nail caught? Is it better to have this part made from the floatation material to add to the buoyancy? What is the main difference between this and the Paws Aboard Designer Doggy Life Jacket?Asked on 4/12/2010 by Debbie from Rolling Hills, CA1 answer

A:
Black mesh holes are very small and acts like the velcro part to secure the dog in jacket. It doesn't seem to be part of the buoyancy system.Answered on 5/20/2010 by Hercules the English Bull Dog from Flower Mound Texas
