sierra Worn or scored thrust washers and prop nuts can cause damage to your prop shaft and propeller face. Protect your drive system by changing your thrust washer and prop nut when replacing or inspecting your propeller.

For use with Evinrude/Johnson: V-6s; '85 120, 140 V-4s; V-8s '85 and later; 2.5 and 2.6 liter Seadrives; OMC sterndrives: V-6s and small block V-8s.

        Carefully, and with all engine power disengaged, place a block of wood between the propeller blade and motor shaft to secure the prop from turning while loosening the nut. Remove cotter pin with a pliers, then remove the old nut with a prop wrench. Slide off the prop...next remove the thrust washer behind it. Before the prop is to be re-installed, check motor shaft's spline for damage and wear. Clean the spline completely, then re-grease spline liberally with new marine lube. Replace new thrust washer first, and then aligne prop spline carefully ...push prop on. Use wood block again and prop nut wrench to tighten your new prop nut onto the spline shaft. Place new cotter pin through the nut hole and bend pin with a pliers to secure it. Check condition at least twice every season for any wear.
