The steering on my 23 year old boat was locked up and after a lot of research I decided to go with this system. I am very pleased with my decision. Me and another person were able to install the new system in just a few hours. The boat is extremely stable and turns effortlessly, I ran it up to 70 mph and it was smooth as silk. Very happy!

Install on 1996 20' Champion 200hp bass boat with worn out cables. Boat is hard to turn left at full throttle (about 60mph). Probably needs jackplate tweaking. Great solidly built product but makes me wonder if hyd. steering would have been worth the extra expense. Once the cables are routed through the hull (have help on hand), the helm and motor installation was very easy.

                          A:

You should check to see what type of steering system is connected to your steering wheel underneath your console. If you boat has a rack and pinion system on it and it is capable of exceeding 50mph then you should measure your boat for the length of cable that you will need to order with this system.

You will need to know if you have a rotary steering system or rack and pinion. Then you will need to measure the length of the cable you currently have. Please call technical support at 1-888-683-7866 and we would be happy to assist you.

You would have to figure out what type of system you need, because it is not way we could cross reference that, also, we would not have anything close to 44ft.

To determine how long a steering cable you need is to pull out your old system and measure it completely. If you do not have the old steering cable then you should measure the path that the old steering cable followed and add 6" to that measurement and be sure to round up to the next whole foot size. If you have any further questions or concerns please contact us here at Overton's at 1-888-OVERTON and any of our Technical Product Specialist will be glad to assist you.
