We got this for our 5 month old after having tried 2 other neoprene, zipper style infant life vests. She hated the others and was very uncomfortable in them. It seemed like when you zipped them up, they were too tight even though she only weighs 16 lbs. This one is very easy to put on and take off and she doesn't mind it at all. The fact that the back portion does not have any of the foam flotation material in it makes it much less bulky and less restrictive for her.

The infant life vest was bought for an 18 month old, 33" tall, and 23 pounds. I wasn't sure how it would fit, but putting it on our child it seemed ok. It was a little confining with the collar around the head and the thick front, but biggest complaint is when in the water the main front part moves up under the chin and looks very uncomfortable and confining. I think the problem is that the strap around the waist is not wide enough and does not hold it in place snuggly. Also, if the child does not have a shirt on or a one pc. bathing suit, the small strap around the waist isn't comfortable on their skin, whereas a wider piece might do better. As our child gets taller, maybe the straddle will keep the vest in place and with more use it may get better. Only used two times so far.

I purchased 3 of these as Baby Shower gifts. There were a huge success. Everyone loved the idea. Here in the State of Washington there is water everywhere, and we love to use it for boating. Thank you Overton's.

Comments about Overton's Overton's Infant Vest:
We tried this based on reviews from other customers. Our 6 month old son (21 lbs 30 inches long) did not like this at all! He was just completly uncomfortable in it. The foam pad that sits behind the head just pushed his head forward, not a happy baby. He loves the water just not floating device.

Comments about Overton's Overton's Infant Vest:
I ordered this for my 8 month old daughter after trying several designs. This is the best fitting life jacket for babies there is. It's still bulky in the front but I'm positive it would keep my daughter belly up and head out of the water if ever needed. We are avid boaters and she falls asleep in it and I have also used this in the pool to get her use to it. Easy to get on and off. Bright colors incase I needed to spot her quickly. All around good jacket, untill they come up with some space age material that makes them less bulky I'll use it!

Looking at the vest, it might work. I think it's more suitable to an older baby who can sit up by themselves and be a bit heavier and bigger.Answered on 6/7/2012 by zoeygirl from Laingsburg MIVERIFIED BUYER
