My name is Chad M. Sullivan and I'm a Soldier serving with the 10th Mountain Light Infantry Division. I've been deployed seven times as an Infantryman in the United States Army, four of which were combat deployments (Somalia, Afghanistan, and twice to Iraq). One of the hardest things we do as Soldiers is re-integrate with our families following the completion of these deployments. My Sergeant Major told me all about how he and his son were close because of all the time they spent together shooting arrows, and how it gave them a "common" interest. I was sold; when I got back from Iraq my son (age nine) and I were going to practice archery together. I contacted Bill Mattison while I was still in Iraq about three months ago, he gave me terrific information concerning what to buy and said he would be expecting me. He seemed excited to help me out. I severely fractured my foot about six weeks ago and returned early from Iraq for surgery and to recover from my injuries. I contacted Bill Mattison from the archery store, he remembered me and said to come on down to the store when I felt better. When I went with my son, he spent over an hour of his time going over all the different types of equipment required, what it was for, and how to use it. We made some purchases and he said he would give us lessons. My son and I started these lessons last week; again, Bill Mattison provided tremendous instruction and displayed the greatest amount of patience as he talked us through correct form, anchor points, release, follow-though and the other fine points of archery. I'm extremely familiar with weaponry, and he is among the best instructor's I've been associated with, he's also great with children. I can honestly say Bill Mattison has not only assisted with our archery, he has more importantly assisted with the integration of a Soldier and his family returning from Iraq. Thank you Bill. Chad M. I had entered your store to obtain directions to an outdoor archery lane. A technician by the name of Josh Provo was more then willing to provide me with a hand drawn map and directions to a local place he and his father have been using, since there wasn’t a lane in store. Later that day I returned to your store to have an arrow repaired that I had damaged at the range. Again Josh treated me with respect and was willing to answer questions I had about my bow and my shooting style. Josh also offered to tune my bow and suggested different arrows for my setup. My past experience with other archery shops has not been as enjoyable. You could tell Josh has a love for archery and enjoys his work. I was also provided with his business card and told I could call him if I had questions or any problems with my bow out in the field. I feel Josh went out of his way to help me and I would not hesitate to return to your store for any of my hunting needs. Keep up the good work Josh! Gander Mountain Store Visited: Maple Grove, MN
Brian asked if we needed help, we declined and he continued to do his stocking. He must have been listening to us because he came over and started to assist us, answering questions and also showing us boot options we would not have thought to look at. He based his choices on what we told him we were looking for and our intended uses, not just trying to sell us the most expensive pair. I ended up buying a fantastic pair of insulated hunting boots for snow-shoeing! I spent more on these boots, but they are exactly what he told me, they worked out super and I would not have chose them without his help. Brian deserves some positive feedback on his great skills, customer service and personable attitude! He was pleasant, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about many different products and where they were located in the store. Thanks! Gander Mountain Store Visited: Bemidji, MN
I've been to Sportsman’s Warehouse and let me tell you the service there is nothing compared to Gander Mountain. I came to Gander looking for some help with some camping equipment for an upcoming trip that my son and I were about to take. I found just the right fellow to help us with all of our needs, his name was Dave and he was from the camping dept. He not only geared us up for the trip he also gave us some invaluable tips and do's and don't about camping. I decided I wanted to do some Dutch oven cooking on our trip and Dave showed us exactly how to prepare many dishes that both my son and I would enjoy. I was happily surprised when I said we needed some boots for my son, so Dave took us right there and helped us choose the right boot for the weather. Most stores point or say it’s over there, not at Gander. Dave took us right there and gave us the attention you rarely see anymore. Just wanted to say thanks and will return to Gander because of the service, especially if I need some camping equipment! Gander Mountain Store Visited: Taylor, MI
I live in Colorado Springs, CO. I purchased a $250 gift card for my son in Burnsville, MN. It came to my home and I wrapped it up and made the drive to MN. We opened all the gifts and he was elated to receive the gift card. That night, when we were planning where we were going to shop the next day, we couldn't find the gift card. I was worried, but my son said that we could contact Gander Mountain the next day and maybe they could help us out. We went to one of your local stores who said they really didn't have a good way to help, but gave us a number to contact Cassie. We called Cassie and her voice mail said she was out of the office. At this point, we still thought we were out of luck, but the next day, while I was driving back to CO, Cassie called my son's home to confirm some information about me and the original purchase. I got home to CO and when I called my son to check on the status of the card, I was told that UPS just hand delivered the new card. I am so impressed. I started working in Customer Service 40 years ago, and then transitioned to AT&T working on their services. Now I am retired and work a service station part time at the local mall. This kind of service is very rare in today's world and I wanted somebody to recognize how appreciated and refreshing it is. Many companies would have just told me "tough luck." Going the extra distance to take care of a customer doesn't get forgotten. My family and I will always be loyal customers of Gander Mountain.
